Ms. Bell Pepper:
What do you say, Isabelly? Are s'mores meant to be deep fried?

i probably shouldn't be admitting this on a food blog, but microwave s'mores do the trick when you want to watch that scary movie in the comfort of your livingroom with no available campfire. and you're too lazy to properly use the stove for marshmallow toastage.

my very technical and time honoured microwave s'more recipe is thus: assemble graham cracker on microwavable plate, put down piece of chocolate on cracker (Côte d’Or is my personal fav), put marshmallow on top of chocolate, microwave until the marshmellow has all but exploded, immediately squish second graham cracker on top. voila.

not perfect, but a very tasty treat with zero prep time. with some experience, one learns what the exact moment is that the marshmallow and chocolate are both at the perfect stage, so you don't have that ghastly non-melty s'more that is really not a s'more at all.

I work in PR at the Minnesota State Fair and have fervently been pitching one of our exciting new foods: Deep-fried S'mores on-a-stick. The confection consists of three chocolate-covered marshmallows stuck on a skewer and coated in a graham cracker batter. Next, the entire thing is deep-fried, allowing the marshmallows and chocolate to form the gooey center, and emerges from the fryer resembling a corn dog - transportable and delicious. Just another way to make s'mores a bit more user friendly :)

Great post. Love the blog, Isabel!

How can I be productive right now knowing that I could be making s'mores from the comfort of my own kitchen. Damn you, Isabel! Damn you!
